After hearing about the dire need of the Salvation Army’s Independence (MO) food pantry, the employees of the Cartwright Companies, a leading provider of integrated global mobility solutions, banded together for a week-long food drive.
The local food pantry in Independence, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City, had to shut down because the demand for assistance overwhelmed the pantry’s supplies. The director of the Salvation Army’s pantry in Independence said he was having to turn away as many as 10 families every hour, so he had to close the doors to stockpile food.
Within one week, Cartwright employees gathered together over 200 pounds of food and supplies. Thanks to Cartwright’s help and others in the community, the pantry was able to reopen. “We have a generous community,” said Maj. Butch Frost of the Salvation Army. “They are coming through for us.”
The Cartwright Companies will continue to participate in these types of initiatives in the future and further its position as an upstanding member of the greater Kansas City business community. The third-generation, family-run company and all of its employees are committed to ensuring a better future for tomorrow.
